Sunday January 5: Holy Spirit, the key to 2014 Text: Exodus 23:20-32 ; Exodus 33:12-17 ; Luke 24:49 In these passages we see the extreme importance of a Guide and even more than a guide for a guide just shows the way but this Guide is the one that actually knows, shows and enables us to get to where we are going. Whereas last year was likened to a journey: this year is likened to a possession, a land that we must possess and the Holy Spirit is the only one who can enable you and I to possess the land in question. The Lord shows us the battle plan of the year and it all centers around the Angel or in our own case; the Holy Spirit. Exodus 23:20 1. I will send my Angel before you: He will go before us. We do not know the way but He knows it. His purpose is to go before us and to keep us in the way so that we would not go aside in the wrong turning: Deuteronomy 1:33 -He led Peter and the Apostles: the preaching at the temple was His leading. The healing of the lame man at gate Beautiful. Philip taken away after he had preached in Samaria and found in Azotus were all the leading of the Holy Spirit. - Acts 16:6; Paul was forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the Word in Asia and also did not allow them to go to Bithynia - Acts 16:9:- Rather He led them to Macedonia where they had great results: Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians , Thessalonians, Bereans, Corinthians, were all as a result of the Holy Spirit. - Let us revisit Asia and lets see what happened when Paul went there: 1 Corinthians 1:8-10 2. He will bring us into the place of fulfilled promises: He will bring us into the place that the Lord has prepared for us: be extremely sure of that: You will get THERE this year!!! - He makes promises that He may keep them and not otherwise: Faithful is He that has called you who also will do it(I Thessalonians 5:24) - He brought you out that He may bring you in: And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers. (Deuteronomy 6:23 KJV). +He brought you out of sin that He may bring you into righteousness and holiness and He will do it + He brought you out of hopelessness to give you a future and the hope of heaven, and He will do it. He will do it through the leading of the Holy Spirit and the enablement of the Holy Spirit. HOW WILL HE DO IT 1. He will instruct us and teach us in the way we have to go through the Bible, through dreams, revelations, direct instructions etc. this will enable us to be at the right place at the right time!!! - He will speak:-Acts 8:29, Acts 10:19, Acts 13:2 - He will speak in dreams, revelations and visions: Acts 2:17~ Acts 9:10~ Acts 10:3~ Acts 10:10~ Acts 16:9~ Acts 18:9~ Acts 27:21-23 -However the basis is the Bible: He will speak only the language of the Word: We received the Spirit that is from God, not the spirit of the world. We received God’s Spirit so that we can know all that God has given us. When we say this, we don’t use words taught to us by human wisdom. We use words taught to us by the Spirit. We use the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. (1 Corinthians 2:12, 13 ERV) 2. He is our Captain:HE will cause us to possess our possession. 2014 is about you possessing your possession. Possession in Hebrew is Delight. To possess in Hebrew is to seize, to dispossess and to inherit. The devil through Adam has usurped our inheritance and now is the time to dispossess the enemy, seize back our inheritance. We can only do this by the Spirit. Canaan was taken only by the Spirit. The boys that won Canaan were not warriors: the warriors died in the wilderness. The boys that won Canaan won it by the Spirit, by His Arm, His glorious Right Hand because He favored them. The key to possess is the Spirit: the Captain of the Lords hosts. He will teach us to war and to fight to conquer the enemy. Though we have victory we must ensure it and retain it: Exodus 23:23,27&28: For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off. I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee. (KJV) He will teach our hands to war and our fingers to fight. We need to possess our possession in 2014. It is a war already won. Where we are going to occupy is occupied by usurpers and they must be driven out. 3. He will empower us: For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds feet, and setteth me upon my high places. He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip. I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed. I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet. For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. (Psalms 18:29, 32-39 KJV) 4. He will change and transform us: many want change in their situations and they want to possess their possessions but you must be transformed before you can possess. Israel had to have Egypt taken away from them and Israel implanted in them before they could enjoy the Promised land. If you do not change: the prosperity of the fool will destroy him. -For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. (Proverbs 1:32 KJV) He will change us; - 2 Corinthians 3:18: But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (KJV) 5. He changes us by making us WISE through the scriptures : -And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:15 KJV) WHAT DO I DO 1. Filling:- you must be born again, baptized in the Holy Spirit and must be FILLED constantly with the Holy Spirit: do not be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit 2. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit:- prayer; reading and understanding of the Word on a daily basis. Seek Him day and night, morning by morning. Church services, etc. let your fellowship with the Holy Spirit be rich 3. Follow: Exodus 23:21,22: Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. (KJV). We must obey: this is critical.
