Sunday evening my wife and I head to Philadelphia for week long tests at the Cancer Treatment Center of America. I am not only asking for continued prayer for healing, but also for strength as there will be many consultations - scans - blood work, and other tests. We are not sure of all the extent of them. I will need His help - strength (as well as Monica) - as I go through the tests. It was nearly 18 months ago I was diagnosed with Carcanoid cancer. Through 2 major surgeries, many scans, blood work and 4 stents replacement procedures, He has been with me. There have been many ups and a few not so ups, but we continue trusting the Lord and believe His is hearing every prayer of all who pray for healing. My church family has been through a lot, challenges I know they didnt ask for, some chose to leave, but many have stayed the course with us, refusing to accept that this is my fate, and remain steadfast and patient - this is a battle they are willing to fight; I continue to do my best to pastor, preach Gods Word, and prepare New Life to receive more souls as well as grow those who call it their church home - I know I fall short sometimes, but I refuse to quit - I cannot tell you how thankful I am for my church family. My family and children have suffered as well. No one wants to see a loved one battle with cancer - I am thankful for my parents, siblings, my extended family of uncles - aunts - nieces - nephews and cousins, and of course, my children, who fight this dreaded battle with me, but especially my children who see the challenges my wife and I face on a daily basis. Finally, to my wife - as we begin a new year together - Monica, you have been a rock of faith, a prayer warrior unlike any other, and a true believer in Gods Word - all the while being my wife, a mother, and pastors wife, while also dealing with your own battles of fear and uncertainty. You are an godly example for all to follow. I love you - keep the faith! I am honored and humbled that next week my church family has set aside a time of fasting and prayer for me.
