Survivor 27: Blood vs. Water Episode #9 Wow. We got a “two-fer” tonight. Two tribal councils. Probably to make up for the dead weight clip show sure to be coming our way Thanksgiving week. Tonight’s show compressed two episodes into one, giving us a broad view of the strategies at play. First, we got to see what happens when you let your indignation spill out. Tina was outraged at Tyson’s manipulation in pretending to be on board with three separate alliances, all the while scheming to dump Aras. She could not help herself and scolded Tyson in front of the camp for his duplicity. Not smart. Even though she was headed for the chopping block, that outburst put her to the front of the line. Lesson: keep your feeling to yourself. As they say, revenge is a dish best served cold. Have no fear about Tyson’s day of reckoning. It is coming soon. As clever as he thinks he is playing, he is making a fundamental error in treating his alliance like marks. You earn respect and loyalty by being loyal. And that will be his downfall. Tyson is so scared of making himself a target, he is keeping his possession of the Hidden Immunity Idol a secret from his own inner circle. That is a fatal mistake. Instead of holding it like an ace up his sleeve, he should be sharing it with his allies and plotting how to use it with them to protect his alliance from the outliers. He needs to show he is looking out for his crew, not just for himself. At this point he might as well throw the HII away, because once he plays it, he will be exposed for the fraud that he is, and then he will be voted off for being untrustworthy. If I were a player and was uncertain what was going on at camp, I would listen closely to the questions Jeff Probst poses at tribal council, because he is flat out exposing every secret with his innocent queries. I am surprised he hasn’t asked Tyson “Well, does anyone know you have the Hidden Immunity Idol?” While he is not quite that blatant, he asked Monica “How does it feel to be lowest person on the ladder?” I don’t know how he can make it any clearer to Monica that any assurances she is getting from the alliance leaders (Tyson and Gervace, which Jeff also outed) is all BS. If Monica refuses to believe Jeff, she is hopeless. If Jeff insists on inserting himself in the game with his provocative questions, at least the players should pay close attention to his revelations and act accordingly.
