TESCO UPDATE - For those of you asking whats going on, this is the latest. Our cat rescue centre asked the local Tesco superstore (Hodge Hill, Birmingham), if we could have a cat food donation basket. We bought the basket ourselves so Tesco would not have any expenses. For the past 5 months or so, we have been constantly asking for a donation basket, and the Tesco store have been repeatedly ignoring us. One of our supporters, Jenny Duffy, has been writing to Tesco Head Office about this. They have now told Jenny that our cat rescue cannot have a donation basket. But no-one from Tesco has contacted us to tell us that. This is what Jenny told me:- Just thought Id let u no Ive had another call from Tesco customer services about the last email i sent them. She has spoken to the manager and he says you cant have a bin in there as you had one once before and people kept throwing rubbish in it thinking it was a rubbish bin. She was very apologetic that it has taken so long to resolve it all and will be sending an email to the manager telling him about the bad press this has given Tesco on your FB page ( i made sure she knew how this has pissed everybody off!!) Im so sorry but she did say maybe you could try another Tesco. Sorry it never worked out for you. So the staff at this Tesco store have said no, we cannot have a donation basket, but we could try another Tesco store! We used to have a bin there over a year ago for cat food, but it was a normal looking rubbish bin. This time, we have bought a specific charity donation wire see-through basket. Obviously this Tesco store does not support animal charities.
