THE HOLY SPIRIT, MY GIFT, MY GUIDE.... In John 16:11 Jesus says But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth The word “guide” in the International Bible Encyclopaedia is defined as To lead or direct in a way; to conduct in a course or path; to pilot; as, to guide a traveler. So in addition to being my teacher, I have been given the Holy Spirit to lead me, to direct me and pilot my steps into the Truth of God;s promises for me. I realise as I grow spiritually how blind I am and how much I need a guide. Through man’s sin and disobedience, we have all lived in darkness but Jesus is the light and was given to us TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, To guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luke 1:79) He alone is the one who is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”. Only God knows the plans He has for me and only the Holy Spirit can guide me along this journey He has laid out for me. My plans may be many but it is only the counsel of the Lord that stands (Proverbs 19:21). Thus it is foolishness to rely on human wisdom instead of that of the Holy Spirit. Jesus says in Matthew 15:14 “Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Without His guidance, I will and have fallen into the pit and thats not a place I want to be ever again!!! So as I humbly confess my blindness before God then it is with thanksgiving, gratitude and joy that I place my hand in that of the Holy Sprit and take each step knowing that as a true believer I must walk by faith in His promises, His laws, His truth and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7). In every day, every decision, every interaction, I am learning to turn to my guide and say “Lord, show me what is happening here, where would you have me walk?, Lead me lest I stumble and fall. He is a wonderful counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal father, prince of peace - The Father, Spirirt and Son, all in one because I believe, because I love Him, they have made their home with me..(John 14: 23) In Isaiah 42:16 the Lord promises “I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, In paths they do not know I will guide them. I will make darkness into light before them And rugged places into plains. These are the things I will do, And I will not leave them undone.” In Psalm 23, I am promised that “ He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul, He guides me in the path of righteousness”. The promises of the Lord to guide me and never forsake me abound across the Bible, He will watch over me , he will watch my coming and going both now and for evermore (Psalm 121). I just have to believe! The challenge for me is to open my heart and trust him enough to let Him be my guide even when I can’t see ahead, to trust that He knows where we are going even when I am stumbling and it feels like all I am doing is bumping into obstacles….. The Holy Spirit makes no mistakes, he knows! If the road was straight and free of obstacles, I would not need a guide! Sometimes, I am distracted and I let go of His hand, sometimes the enemy pulls me away and for a moment I panic, I am lost but I have learnt to simply stand still before Him, hold out my hand in faith knowing that He is right there, always there and I am lifted. As the Psalmist says in Ps 56:13 “He has delivered my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living”. I know that guided by His hand my strength is renewed, i run without growing weary, I walk without growing faint (Isaiah 40:31). I cannot go wrong! Today dearly beloved let us place our hands in His again this morning, let us confess that we trust Him to be our guide in all things, let us commit to listen to His counsel and to walk in His paths for they are good and His plans for us are good. He knows them. (Jeremiah 29:11) Let the Holy Spirit and not the worlds wisdom be your guide!! Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude1:24) Thank you Father for giving me your guide, I cant wait to get to the final destination with you, in the presence of your glory!!! Be blessed this week with fruitfulness, abundance, joy and may He guide you into the truth of Gods promises for your life, always! Amen JI Please like, comment, share and for more like and follow this page!
