THE MERITS AND DEMERITS OF FIFAS RULING ON CAIRO AS THE VENUE FOR THE EGYPT-GHANA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER Football in the world is supritended over by fifa.every other association of football takes most of their rules and regulations from those of fifa.fifa organizes several competitions.chief amongst them is the male world cup which is preceded by qualifying series amongst available member nations.ghana just like some other nations entered the qualification round for the 2014 competition slated for brazil. Ghana has won her qualifying group in the second round which included countries such as zambia, sudan and lesotho with fifteen out of eighteen points.ghana was therefore drawn against egypt in the third and final round of the qualification campaign.the moment the draw saw the light of day, many people including myself harboured or entertained some fears and demanded of the gfa to call for the game to be out of egypt.my fears stemmed or emanated from the fact that egypt has been chaotic since 2011 when the military in the country spearheaded the overthrow of government of president mohammed mursi.this has since then plunged the nation in chaos.security in the country is very shaky.civilians loyal to the muslim brotherhood political party are fighting the military through a gorilla warfare strategy being executed through a fantastic tactical disposition. This decision by fifa is quite unpopular amongst ghanaians and football loving people.how and why should fifa throw caution to the wind simply because they claim egypt has assured them of tight or improved security arrangement?when fifa was taking games away from certain countries, didnt such countries assure fifa of similar improved security arrangements?I am highly disappointed in fifa. I suspect there is a certain conspiracy theory being perpetuated by the fifa and their assigns.I hear it pained them when ghana whitewashed them by six goals to one.the diabolical plans really failed.this is what I will wit as plan no afaili in our ghanaian parlance. NOW TO THE GAME ITSELF IN POINT over turning a five goal margin of defeat is extremely difficult to be executed.but i do agree there is no impossibility in association football.ghana is obviously the favourites to make it to brazil.the reasons i will assign to this candid view are not far fetched.these are as follows: *egypt will play under pressure with view to getting enough goals to surpass ghana or cancel the deficit *if fans are allowed into the stadium, their noise and expectations will bring its attendant negative repercussions *ghana is under no pressure and as can play a relaxed game and if possible score goals against the round of play. egypt has a ten percent chance of qualifying at ghanas expense.the qualification ticket is already in the grips of ghana.if they fail,it will become the latest wonder of the universe.
