THE MUSIC OF CHRISTMAS, CONT. Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Quite possibly the saddest song in the Christmas repertoire. This song became a huge hit in 1944, with millions of families separated by World War II. I dont think there was a dry eye in the country when this song came on over the radio then. It was also hugely popular with American troops around the world, missing their own families at home, and knowing there was a chance they would never again be united in this world. Someday soon we all will be together... if the Fates allow. Until then well have to muddle through somehow.
