THE NOISOME PESTILENCE “Surely he shall deliver us from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence,” declares David in Psalm 91. Indeed, he proclaims, we may find refuge under the shadow of the Almighty. Pestilence is described as a contagious diseases such as the Ebola Plague, that we in the 21st Century have all but eradicated communicable, infectious disease as a common cause of death. The fear that stalked people in their interactions with others for most of human history is something for which we have no point of reference. Yet there is merit in attempting to recover the metaphoric value of the word pestilence as we consider our post-modern society and the ills that plague us today. For we are infected with a communicable disease of the soul, one as ravenous to us spiritually as the Ebola virus is to its victims physically. This pestilence is a mutated virus that not only spreads faster, but is far more deadly. Ebola is noisome; the whole world is talking about it. To End the Ebola Battles by the Power of God. Father, we thank you that you have already given us victory in Jesus name (1 Corinthians 15:57); Father, help the people of Sierra Leone to dwell in your secret place that your shadow may overshadow them in Jesus name (Psalms 91:1) Father, it is written “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence”. Therefore, I declare today that the people of Sierra Leone are delivered from every snare of the fowler and from all noisome pestilence in Jesus name. (Psalms 91:3) Father, it is written “He shall cover thee with his feathers”. Cover them all with your feathers that the hawks of life do not tamper with their destiny in Jesus name. (Psalms 91:4a); Father, it is written “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.” Because God will fight our battles (Isaiah 49:24-26; Zachariah 4:4-6), I declare an end to all terror by night, arrows that flies by daytime, the pestilence of life that renders at person useless and every destruction sent from whatever camp to waste their lives in Jesus name. (Psalms 91:5-6); Father, it is written “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.” Therefore I declare that every pestilence will fall at their sides and all spiritual wickedness over their lives shall fall at their right hands. Only with their eyes, will see the reward of the wicked. (Psalms 91:7-8); Father, it is written “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” Therefore, I declare that no evil will befall Sierra Leone and their household neither shall any plague come near their dwellings in Jesus name. Father, I declare they will not dash their feet against a stone. Deliver them from every destiny mistakes in Jesus name. (Psalms 91:10-12); Father, it is written “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.” I therefore declare that no power of the enemy or plague will ever defeat the people of Sierra Leone in Jesus name, for God has given us the power to thread over the powers of the enemy and plague. (Psalms 91:13); Father, we will live and not die to declare the glory of God in Jesus name. (Psalms 91:16; Psalms 118:19). Amen
