THE REASON WE DONATED $100, 000 (ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS) TO FIGHT EBOLA IN LIBERIA I have received many calls from Liberia and in the diaspora from friends and love ones commending me and my wife for our One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($ 100, 000) donation to fight the Ebola Virus Disease(EVD) in Liberia. In response, please permit me to make the following statement: As our nation goes through this critical and life threatened path, it is hard to believe when you see you love ones get feeble and pass-out right before you. This is very disheartening-a killer virus disease whose cure is yet farfetched. However, we think the virus can be controlled. Liberia is not the only country that has suffered from this killer disease. America first experienced it in 1976 and its authority controlled it. Also Democratic Republic of Congo experienced it in 1976 in the region of Equateur province in what was once the former Zaire. A separate outbreak occurred in Sudan the same year. They controlled it. I am as well convinced we can control this Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and get rid of it like those countries. Although we understand our dysfunctional health system, we can control it. As we can see and understand that people are despair right now, we can control this disease and give them hope again. It is hard to believe that Liberia the oldest African independent country is still rummaging behind countries that got their independence yesterday. This is partly due to lack of system which is absolutely attributable to many factors. Our country illiteracy and poverty rates are two major factors. These have beclouded our positive mental attitudes ( PMA) , make us vulnerable to the rich and incredulous ( quick to believe anything and quick to react because we lack the ability to discern what would be the outcome of our actions). Therefore, our country’s problem is not corruption along. Something is broken that we need to fix and until we fix it, we’re going nowhere as a nation and as a people. There is something wrong with our biochemistries that have resulted into a default in our psychobiography (inability to think and act right and to make good judgments). If you make a judgment/decision that destroys the whole nation and its people for your own safety and the safety of your family along, then something is wrong with your psychobiography which has also resulted into a default in your subconscious mind. And if there is a default in your subconscious mind, then it means your PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) is dysfunctional. If your PMA is dysfunctional, it means you have a virus called “Lack of Ethics”. Ethics is a god’s giving endowment given to all human beings to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Your inability to draw this distinction will result to a symptom called greed. Greed exposes you to a disease call corruption which has no cure like the Ebola Virus Disease. The corruption disease is associated with what Socrates called “thyself”. Ebola and corruption are synonymous. Ebola is a disease that has no cure but can be controlled. Corruption also is a disease that has no cure but it can be controlled. The only difference here is Ebola can kill a human being while Corruption can kill or setback a nation from progressing. Given that Ebola can be controlled by quarantining the outbreak area and finding cure and food for those affected, similarly we can control corruption by quarantining those ministries and agencies and individuals who hold public offices. We can quarantine and treat them by making them to account for their authorization to misuse our country’s funds. We need a quality assurance task force bureau to constantly QA all government ministries and agencies and individuals placed in public offices. Those who will fall short of the standard set must face justice (have their days in court) without fear or favor. If corruption is not controlled, it means Liberia is still considered as a farm for the power that be and we must put stop to it now. Liberia cannot be a farm and America the city for Liberians in authority in Liberia. When we control corruption, like the Ebola Virus Disease, we can train many doctors than we need and build many hospitals and clinics than we have now. However, corruption can only be controlled if we develop a positive mental attitude (PMA) towards our fellow man, communities, and country. It can neither come easily nor by through a dictatorship. We need a system to compel compliance like the IRS job in the United States. We need a quality assurance task force bureau to QA all of us for our pronouncements and deals. Yes, Ebola is real and it can be controlled. It is from this backdrop (having watched the electronic media and read from the print media), my wife and I decided to share some of what we have with those who need it most. We believe and hope this $100,000 (One hundred Thousand Dollars) will reached its intended people to save someones life from this Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). Sincerely, PRINCE YEAKEHSON
