FISHING REPORT >>While fishing at the IRI, Roger Aeo caught a 24 black drum using shrimp! >>Capt. Rodney Jones of Fish Whisperer Charters took an early day due to rain and went fishing in the Indian River Bay and picked up a couple of keeper flounder fishing the Drains. The drains are the ditches that run through the flats in the back bays and funnel the majority of the water out. The drains could be anywhere from 3 deep to 20 some feet deep. Flounder lie in these drains and feed on food washing on the drain from the flats. >>Striper King Gear told us his friend, Tyler, was out fishing the canal after dark and picked up a couple of 20 plus blues! Nice catch! >>On Wednesday, Bucktail Bob went to the Outer Wall and got his limit of tog. Also heard from 2 other customers that were saying the same thing! >>Matt Bomberger wrote on FaceBook: Good morning guys, fished all day yesterday and had nothing to show for it except for skates, until my buddy hit a 28 bluefish at 3Rs. >>Received a nice thank you note: Thanks for leaving bait out for me again, you guys are the best!!! >>Trevor Dodge Sr, Pasadena Md., got his limit of flounder up to 23 at the Pier on silversides. >>Chris Sheppard, Wilmington, and Jim Bell, Mantua, NJ, caught their limit of tog using green crabs at the outer wall with fish up to 6#. >>Jaden Azato, Lewes, caught a 17.5 tog at the Inner Wall on green crabs. >>CJs brother nailed a 24 flattie at the Pier on Gulp! >>Paul of Bills Sport Shop, caught a 19 flounder at Masseys using Gulp! On another trip, Paul caught a black drum on clams at the Navy Crossing yesterday. >>Tim Caswell, Georgetown, DE caught a 7.05#, 28 weakfish at Roosevelt Inlet on a swim shad. >>Kristen Stadelman and crew went to Broadkill Beach today and came home with 2 drum in the 30# range and 2 linesideres in the 35 range! WTG Guys!!! >>We heard of 7 flounder being caught in the Lewes Canal on Mothers Day, all on 4 and 6 Gulp!. Chartreuse and pink did the trick. >>Kim Hansen fished Slaughter Beach for drum, but caught a bunch of large croaker on the surf clams she was using for bait for the drum. >>Fishing Report by Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, OC: Water Temp is 57.6. Bluefish in the surf for Mothers Day! More striper action on Assateague. Black drum on Ocean City and Delaware Beaches. Some nice flounder in the bay behind Assateague. Tautog are still biting strong. Sea bass starts May 19th! >>Reports are coming in of weakfish at the Broadkill on top water plugs. Also hitting are sriper and black drum. FYI >>Tog is closed and will reopen July 1. >> Please do not forget about DMS Beach Clean Up this Sunday. We will meet at Conquest Rd parking lot at 8:30 am and start around 9 am. DMS is starting to plan a few meet and greets and this will be one of them. After the clean up, we plan on wetting a few lines and spending some quality time fishing with great people. Looking for advice on casting, bait, rigs, tips, whatever. DMS will be there for the public to share our knowledge. We hear the Delaware Brethren of the Coast may be attending as well. WE hope to see you and your families on Sunday. >>Sea Bass Regs are open 5/19 to 9/18 and 10/18 to 12/31 15 fish at 12.5 inches Flounder 16 @4 per day CHANGES will go into effect May 11, 2014.Black Drum limits are 3 fish at 16 inches or better throughout the entire State. >>River herring fishery is closed statewide. River herring, a popular baitfish, may not be kept if caught in Delaware waters. Anglers must have a valid receipt from a state or jurisdiction where harvest is still permitted to possess river herring. >>From the Coastal Fisherman: The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is adjusting the Atlantic bluefin tuna (BFT) daily retention limits that apply to vessels permitted in the Highly Migratory Species (HMS) Angling category and the HMS Charter/Headboat category (when fishing recreationally for BFT) effective May 8 through December 31, 2014, as follows: Recreational: 1 school BFT (27 to Programs at Cape Henlopen State Park: Sunday, May 18th at 9:30...Driving on the Beach. Programs at DSSP: Friday May 16th at 2 pm Beach Driving Clinic at IRI Life Saving Station 2 PM. Learn park rules, licensing requirements and tips from park staff to maximize your safety while driving on the beach. Then, follow park staff out to the beach to practice driving on the sand (participants must have a valid surf tag and the necessary equipment. >>DOVER (May 2, 2014) Recreational anglers catching summer flounder in Delaware waters are able to keep smaller fish this season. The changes allow anglers to keep four fish per day with a minimum size of 16 inches, with no closed season. Under the previous regulations, the minimum size for keepers was 17 inches. In another change, the minimum size limit for black sea bass remains 12.5 inches, while the possession limit decreases from 20 to 15. For 2014, black sea bass season will run May 19-Sept. 18, and reopen Oct. 18-Dec. 31. >>The May 21st Tidal Finfish Advisory Council meeting has been cancelled.
