THE TAKBEER DAY / YOUM-E-TAQBEER 28 MAY 1998 The Day Pakistan emerged as Atomic Power ( My debate on Dutch TV program BUITENHOF on 31-05-1998 & efforts against the Economic Sanctions by Netherlands as well as European Union, meetings with Netherlands and European Parliamentarians to convince not to announce sections against Pakistan) MY friends in Pakistan, please allow me share my past activity immediately after the Nuclear Tests of India and Pakistan. Netherlands which is my present country of residence, from where Dr.Abdul Qadeer Khan ( Pakistans Nuclear Scientist, who along with other great Pakistani scientists helped Pakistan to become an Atomic Power, of course for the sake of Nuclear Deterrence in the region after Indias Nuclear tests ) studied qualified in Atomic deterrence program Ultra-centrifuges development . I was approached by one of the top most current affairs TV program Buitenhof of Paul Witteman, to participate in a live debate with an Indian over the Nuclear Tests ( I was informed that my counter part is an highly qualified academic will you be able to balance the quality of debate? I dont claim to be an academic but I will give him a tough time , this was my answer. As this was the first ever opportunity in the bilateral history of Pakistan-Netherlands to defend my beloved motherland ( in a live and quality TV debate, while in those days you could hear nothing over Pakistan but stereotype news items ) , I called the then Ambassador of Pakistan and asked him if he could provide me some latest data over the Indian atrocities/human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir. He promised me, a promise which never could fulfilled ! Anyway on 31st day of May 1998 Almighty provided me an amazing opportunity to defend our beloved Pakistan, by the grace of Almighty Allah I could beat the Indian in debate, in words of the then Ambassador of India. As I received a call from PAK Embassy after the program, that Ambassador would like to meet you, I met the gentleman on 9th of June Khalid Mubarak ho / Khalid congratulations for representing Pakistan successfully Ambassador said while shaking hands. Could you watch that ? I asked him..Oh no, I couldnt, I had some visitors, but Indian Ambassador called me and said Your man didnt allowed our man to speak ( I felt deep pain in my heart and soul, that Dutch media isnt an easy approachable media, which gave us almost an half our to build our countrys image and to clarify why, Pakistan was forced to go for the N.Tests, and he couldnt find time contrary to his Indian counterpart ).
