THE WAR AGAINST SIN IS A PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY Beloved, it is another wonderful privilege to come your way again today to share the Word of God with you on this all-impotant subject. The war against sin is your own responsibility and mine. All that Jesus needed to do to put you and me ahead of sin and iniquity was concluded more than two thousand years ago when He said, it is finished (Jn.19:30). Understand today that the war against sin is not a physical battle but a spiritual one. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood...(Eph.6:12), But the good news is that you can win the war against sin! All it takes is a personal responsibility to walk in the victory that Christ has given to you. Apostle Paul speaking in Eph.4:27 said, Neither give place to the devil. This means, until you allow the devil, he cannot cause you to sin. Satan needs your permission before he can cause you to disobey God. There is nothing he can do to make work against the truth except you give him the chance. It is your responsibility to resist the devil and he will flee (James4:7). You have the power to overcome sin. God has given you the power because He will not ask you to do what He has not empowered to do. Col.3:5 says, Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Who is to mortify (kill, deaden, destroy) his/her members, you may ask? You, of course! It is your own responsibility. Jesus is not coming again to do it for you neither can anybody else. Apostle Paul admonished his covenant son, Timothy, Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2Tim.2:19-21). Beloved, understand that you are the one to depart from iniquity and not somebody else to do it for you. In verse 21, he said, If any man therefore purge himself from these defilements.... You are the one to purge yourself of everything that makes you an enemy of God. Sin makes man an enemy of God (James 4:4)! Apostle Paul also speaking to the church in Corinth, said, Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit , perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Know and understand again that we are the ones to cleanse ourselves and not God nor His son, Jesus, coming down from heaven to do it for us. However, the war against sin cannot be fought and won in the energy of the flesh. It is a spiritual battle that must be fought and won spiritually. Therefore, you need the power of the Holy Ghost to fight this fight of faith (1Tim.6:12; Jn.15:5). Understand that you cannot be empowered by the Holy Ghost to fight against sin except you are born again (Jn.3:3-7). You want to receive Jesus into your heart today so you can continue to win the war against sin all the days of your life, say this simple prayer and mean it in your heart: Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I know I am a sinner. I know you died for my sins and on the third day you rose for my justification. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Forgive me all my sins, cleanse me with your precious blood and give me eternal life. Today, I am born again. I am a child of God. Thank You Lord for saving me, Amen. JESUS IS LORD!
