Emergency services at Coast GH suspended as Joho promises to pay staffs salaries by Friday Emergency services have been suspended at the Coast General Hospital as a result of the ongoing health workers strike. Doctors said that the hospitals casualty section was shut down on Tuesday as the section is deserted. Most relatives have opted to transfer patients to private hospitals because of the lack of doctors. Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who visited the hospital today, promised to address the concerns of health workers saying that the staff will receive their salaries by Friday. A patient who had sustained several injuries in a road accident died on Monday at the hospitals casualty wing. He needed an operation in the Intensive Care Unit but relatives said their patient succumbed to his injuries after he was inadequately attended to by doctors.? Doctors and nurses have vowed to team up and push for their July pay and perks, failing which they will paralyse operations countrywide.
