Giving and receiving need to go together as energy has to be balanced. In most families, we come across one person who becomes the ‘umbrella–the eternal giver–to whom people can go with all their problems and who is ever ready to support them with pleasure. This works both ways–people who are dependent get even more dependent and the ‘giver’ starts to get his identity from that service. The eternal giver does not want to take any thing from others, believing he does not want to take an obligation or trouble others. It could even be coming from the feeling that he ‘does not deserve it’ –which are all totally ego driven and create a block in our spiritual growth. Being a perpetual giver seems to work at the physical world of duality but not at the energy level. When we do not want to receive, we block ourselves in that proportion to the energy of Allowance. We block our own flow of Abundance. And energy will find a balance–either this life time or next. To my mind, that explains why a child or an elderly person in a family needs constant care. It is all karmic balancing taking place. Love and Light!
