JULY 10, 1954 – WHBQ – a Memphis radio station began playing a song written by “ARTHUR ‘BIG BOY’ CRUDUP.” Arthur wrote this song, but needed a singer; so he got this young White Boy in Memphis to sing it for him -- jump-starting the career of the most successful solo act in Pop History. That young singer’s name was “Elvis Pressley!” Elvis also recorded another Arthur Crudup song called “So Glad You’re Mine” – which he himself at taken to #3 R&B in 1946. (DID YOU KNOW??)
