In 1769, the common people were told that it meant, agreeable and delightful, because if you are silly; foolish and ignorant, you are agreeable and delightful to those who rule over you. The definition of kind or thoughtful was given to us in 1830. SO DONT BE AN IDOT!!! The Latin root word for idiot is idiota, which means: the common people. Among the rulers, there are only two classes of people: the ruling classes and the common people (you and I). When they told one another, dont act like an idiot, they were saying: dont act like the common people. Nevertheless; we continue to call one another idiots, without realizing that we are all idiots, and those who rule us want us to stay idiots (the common people).
