On December 8, the Senate passed on unanimous consent a bill introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) to make the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) work better for the public. More than 70 organizations have endorsed the Judiciary Committee-passed bill, and it was co-sponsored by numerous Senators from both sides of the aisle. The House already passed a similar bill, and the bill now moves back to the House for what we hope will be passage of S. 2520. This needs to happen before the House leaves on Thursday 11 December. Let your Representative know that s/he should support passage of S 2520 when it comes to the floor of the House.
