THIS!!!!! THIS!!!!!!! This is how soooooo many people I am directly acquainted with (read, it could be you) decide to create their political opinions, relaxing on the internal thought, Democrats believe this so I am going to make it my platform, the daily kos put it up so it must be Legit Researched Journalism (Thats an easy dig at you J. N. ) Whats not seen when just reading the headline, usually a variation of Republicans eat your babies or Society for the Crucifixion of any other political party than Dem is the lack of credentialed sources or distance that these highly motivated propagandists easily project within their word choice in the first paragraph. Whats missing is the obvious conclusion that, like fox news, the position was already and apparently chosen prior to the breakdown of facts and a selective presentation of facts has been chosen to offer the presupposed opinion, credence. I think my real challenge with this however is less to do with that behavior, because as any educated person can likely tell you, journalism as it stands today is business and the best business man learns to speak their audience to keep them coming back for more, ethics be damned. What really bothers me is that while some of us expect that is a natural side effect of the train wreck of unrestrained capitalism, others eat up the propaganda wholesale, stuck within their learned dichotomy of Democrat Vs Republican and falsely (note the loaded word) equating that dichotomy with Right vs Wrong. They are both wrong and there are moments when they both might be right; neither have a universal moral or intellectual high ground and the assumption that source credibility automatically confers or conversely removes legitimacy is shortsighted, uneducated, foolish.
