CHECK IT OUT...WISE WORDS: Be as little children, for such is the kingdom of Heaven: If we admit it or not, we all have to wrestle with taming the Ego! For me its harder in some parts of my life than others. It makes me think of a real life story of how ego and pride caused a singing group to implode and lose what they had worked so hard to get. Who remembers the group that P-Diddy put together called “Da Band”? Who remembers what they had to go through just to be put in the group? Each person made it through the solo part of the process to become a member of “Da Band”! They had so much individual talent. In one episode they were asked to walk (In the cold) from Manhattan to Brooklyn, to get some cheese cake for P-Diddy. Some members of the group knew it was a test, others were too proud to walk and they all began a lot of in-fighting. Despite P-Diddy trying his best to make them come together as a unit, that group fell apart because they had no root, no focus, no higher purpose, and no leader who they all trusted and respected enough to allow them to lead. The members who were humble were kept on the label and the other three were dropped completely. There’s a real life lesson for me. Was the issue money? They all got $75,000 dollar advances and they sold 600,000 copies of their album. Let’s see…………. 600,000 copies x 10 per album = 6 Million dollars. So it’s probably safe to say that they split at least another $600,000 between them from album sales for a total of approximately $175,000 per member. This is not counting any money from touring, commercials, interviews and so on. They got the money and fame that they were chasing, so what was the real problem? The problem was their character and lack of preparation or rather pride or ego and Ignorance. Beware of pride. Dont let your talent take you where your character can not keep you!
