THIS is my reply to a young man who posted a most ignorant diatribe on the subject of President Michael D Higgins. If he is a sample of the ignorance of young people who think it is clever to attack our leaders, or indeed pour filthy unwarranted aspersions on public figures; using FB to spew the most appalling, vicious, unsubstantiated venom I have been unfortunate to encounter, I begin to despair for future generations. David Hall What I cant forgive him ( MDH) for is his stealing a highly lucrative living for decades and adding absolutely no value to the nation in return. And now that he has collected himself, yet another, pension he is busy grifting away organizing well paying gigs for his little lackeys like the little moocher he is. Do try and discover something about the man...his high international standing and recognition in several fields, not least working for the UN; his public service at home in ROI, his achievements as a writer, poet, promotion of the Irish language; his erudition, his poetry...I could go on but dammit, the mans many achievements speak for themselves. Your post is demeaning (of yourself). You display a massive ignorance of MDs achievements and it may be verging on libellous (stealing ) as for your charge of no value to the nation. Even MDs unfriends would scarcely deny him credit for the contribution he has made to Irish life, politics and culture and arts. I wonder why, after reading such an ignorant diatribe of peevish builshite and ignorance as you have put your name to, I even bother to upbraid you, young man. But perhaps it is because I might persuade you to take an unbiased look at MDs man y achievements and perhaps you might have the decency to post an apology to the man. However, on the basis of your miserable, begrudging and so ignorantly uninformed post, I rather doubt you have the guts to behave like a decent human being and apologise ( to MD and the world at large) for your abominably transgression .
