THOUGHTS ON THE RAPTURE, part 6: “Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” This will be a kind of resume of my thoughts on the evidence for the Rapture. Some are desirous of a Scripture that says explicitly that the church will be Raptured out before the Second Coming of Christ. Some theological truths are gleaned from the whole Bible, taking it all into account. Our beliefs in the Trinity which “word” is not mentioned in the Bible, in the Person of Jesus Christ whose divinity and humanity has been battled over for a long time, how the vicarious atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross works for the sinner’s redemption. There may be more that could be mentioned. Some truths are much like the circumstantial evidence given in court that are allowed to convict a defendant. Very often a person goes to jail based upon all the mounting evidence against him or her without any real eye-witness to the crime. I think we have enough evidence from Scripture that there is a necessary Rapture before the time ending event of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming. 1. Christians are promised an escape from such Judgment. (Daniel 12:1-2; I Thessalonians 5:9-10; Luke 21:36, above reference) 2. It is a time of relative peace. Christians can be taken by surprise. (Matthew 24:38-44) 3. The early church seemed to be expecting it in their time. (I Corinthians 7:29-31; I Thessalonians 3:12)) 4. It is to be sudden and quick. (I Corinthians 15:51-53) 5. After the resurrection will be the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. (Matthew 25:1-13) 6. There is to be the judgment seat of Christ for the Saints. (Romans 14:10-12; I Corinthians 3:13-15) 7. The Saints come back with Jesus to bring in His kingdom and to end the Devastations on earth at the Second Coming. (Jude 14; note I Thessalonians 3:13) 8. If the Tribulation time is the pouring out of God’s Judgment on a world that has rejected Him, His Son, and persecuted the Jews and converted Gentiles why would the church have any part in that? Whenever God’s personal judgment has come he has made a way of escape for His faithful. (The Hebrews in Egypt and the death angel, Sodom and Gomorrah, the flood of Noah’s day) You must be a saved and sanctified people, Saints, to be ready for the Rapture! (John 3:3; Hebrews 12:14) You cannot be a “carnal Christian” and not fully committed to Him. (Romans 8:6-7) Jesus must be Lord of all or He will not be Lord at all! -- Okie preacher
