THROWBACK THURSDAY NR 3 IS ON! So weve talked a bit about the first songs on the record.. Lets move on! Song Nr 3 was Who Are You. I guess you could say its our Sweet Emotion. I was a fan of the old Aerosmith stuff for shure but I cant remember trying to imitate them with this song. I think it was more down to the similarities: 2 bands that loved stonesy raw rocknroll, guitar riffs, funky grooves and Beatles melodies. Put em together and have a 70s style rockband play it and you might end up with something like these 2 songs. Its about falling in love with somebody that moves you: -Who made my heart skip a beat? If I could do so Id play back and repeat. Who are you? I remember when Niclas took his ride cymbal and walked out through the audience during that ping-ping-ping instrumental section. This one particular night he walked up to the bar, barechested and soaking wet like the creature from the black lagoon. He went Hello! (ping)Can (ping) I have (ping) a (ping) beer (ping) please? She just looked at him like he was one of the regulars and said 1 pound 50 or whatever. She tried to charge him money for it, right during his lil ride cymbal extravaganza, in the middle of the song. Haha! Like Gimme a fuxxin beer, Ill pay you later! No. Hilarious. She musta been the only person in the room who didnt find his ridecymbal solo amusing. Song Nr 4: Electrified. I dont remember writing this or recording it, unfortunately. We did 2 videos for it though, one in Sweden (the first) and one in the states (second). The first one was interesting. We met this guy who had just been to Haiti and filmed a documentary about voodoo. He said we could use parts of it in the video. We used to do all sortsa things in the beginning to make people react, like paint our faces in warpaint, so we thought yeah, why not?! It did raise a few eyebrows but if the song and voodoo photage works well together? Not so sure :-) Vid Nr 2 we did later in America. Prolly cost a fortune (cuz vids back then did) and was a bit more sane. Us in a warehouse, jammin away with lightbulbs hangin from the ceiling. The last song on side one on Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride, was Freaky Funksters. Musta been inspired by early Red Hot Chili Peppers. I was a big fan of the early stuff with H Slovak on guitar. Sam Yaffa (fr Hanoi Rocks) lived in LA and sent me a cassette with one of their early albums long before they were heard of in Scandinavia. Inspired me lots! We even covered a few of their songs live. I used to buy snowspray and spin like a windmill with strobe lights on during Freaky Funksters. Cheap but great effect! /Bloom
