*TICK TOCK TICK TOCK* BOMB THREAT IN SENGKANG? - OPERATION READINESS EXERCISE On 28th October 2014 at about 0115hrs, the Police received a call stating that an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was placed near Compass Heights in Sengkang and that it would detonate within three hours. Upon arrival, Officers from Sengkang NPC spotted a suspicious parcel left at the bus stop. Suddenly, a passer-by approached our officers and informed them that more than 3 passengers had collapsed at the nearby Sengkang Bus Interchange…. Don’t worry! This was just the scenario of the recent joint Operation Readiness Exercise (OREX) conducted between Ang Mo Kio Police Division and 3rd Division SCDF on 28th October 2014. The exercise aimed at honing our officers’ operational capabilities when responding to emergency situations, in this case, a bomb threat/chemical agent attack. From making a threat assessment of the potential explosive device to clearing the area of innocent residents and casualties, the initial response from the Police and SCDF, among other stakeholders, are crucial in saving lives.
