TL;DR: Dear LOFT Website. Stop photoshopping space between your models legs. No love, Me. To Whom It May Concern, Im a faithful patron of LOFT and have adored your breezy, comfortable clothing line for more than a decade. LOFT clothing has been with me through job changes, marriages, and promotions. I hold the entire line in very high esteem. You can imagine, then, my surprise when, while clicking through images from the new spring line, I noticed that additional space had been photoshopped between the legs of your already quite thin models. See: loft/torched-collarless-softened-shirt/368689 Also: loft/petite-stitchy-sweater/363742 I am a graphic artist and illustrator by trade, so I understand the demand to make images look as perfect as possible for an exceedingly finicky audience. These pictures, however, are jarring for portraying an unrealistic female figure. From an artistic standpoint, the erasure is sloppy, which is easy for someone with my background to see. But from an ethical standpoint, Im disheartened to think your graphic designers felt the need to insert the change at all. Understandably, you want the clothes to take center stage, as that is the product you want to sell. But taking out what would amount to actual human musculature to do it is more than unnecessary - its wrong. It misrepresents the clothes youre trying to sell. And while someone like me can look at it as a bad photoshop gaff, someone else - perhaps someone in the market for a new body in addition to a new set of shorts - could make the mistake of comparing themselves to the doctored women on your pages. I know Ann Taylor/LOFT to be a company of conscience. Please stop enhancing your already beautiful models in this manner. Its off-putting, unattractive, unrealistic, and wont make customers believe in your clothings ability to enhance their beauty. Thanks for your attention to this matter. Kind Regards, Venessa
