TMC PRESS RELEASE The Muslim Congress (TMC) 1 Thanni Olodo Street, Off Ikorodu Road, Jibowu Bus-stop, Lagos 08023462555, 08033096636 October 20, 2013 CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE DEATH OF ALHAJI BISIRIYU ONISAROTI FORMER NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF ANSAR-UD-DEEN SOCIETY OF NIGERIA All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the universe. May His peace and blessings be upon the noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), his faithful companions and dutiful followers till the end of time, amin. The Muslim Congress (TMC) joins other Islamic groups and Faith-Based organisations in the Nigeria and in diaspora to condole and empathise with the Muslim Ummah and Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria on the death of our amiable mentor, loving father and uncommon Islamic activist, Alhaji Bisiriyu Onisaroti on Friday 18th October 2013, at the age of 83 years. May Allah accept the repose of his soul to Paradise, amin. Far from mere praise singing, Alhaji Bisiriyu Onisaroti lived a fulfilled life as a Muslim, and made indelible footprint in the area philanthropy and community development. He served the pace-setting Ansar-Ud-deen Society of Nigeria creditably well, in the capacity of General Secretary for over 20 years before he emerged as a celebrated National President. His tenure as a National President of this foremost Islamic organisation radiated high-level professionalism, achievements, rebranding, innovation, openness, creativity, inclusiveness, fairness, transparency and prudence in the management of human and material resources of the organisation. Apart from Ansar-Ud-deen, he served his native homeland meritoriously as the Mogaji Ngeri of Epeland. His passion for Islamic propagation cuts across Islamic groups and ideological affiliations without exception; he was a patron to all by virtue of his open policy and warm embrace. He supported financially and morally the weekly radio programme of The Muslim Congress - Ona-Ola on Radio Lagos for years. This was an uncommon posture of accommodation, brotherhood and tolerance of other groups. We know, he did same for other Islamic organisations in Nigeria including his own within the limit of his personal resources. More importantly, Onisaroti understood the imperative of sustainable development, he therefore handed over (after an eventful tenure) the position of National President of Ansar-Ud-deen to another genius, a bridge-builder and an intellectual per excellence, Alhaji Lateef Femi Okunnu, to nurture the organisation to further greater height in Nigeria. Both were friends for years. As we mourn him, we have consolation in his antecedents and good works, which everyone should draw lessons from. We shall all be part of history. In short, Onisaroti’s life of service is worthy of emulation, especially at this auspicious moment in our national life, when traits of competence, selflessness, honesty, integrity, hard work, role-modelling and patriotism have been compromised for worthless worldly gains and mediocrity. He is an honest Muslim, a world-class selfless administrator, a patriot and a goal-getter. He has gone forever, but his uncommon legacies and beautiful memories of selfless service in Ansar-Ud-deen and within the Muslim Ummah shall linger on for long. May Allah grant him Jannat-ul- Firdaus, amin. SIGNED Luqman AbdurRaheem, MNIM Amir, The Muslim Congress
