Typhoon Glenda has intensified slightly as it moves closer to Catarman, Northern Samar according to PAGASAs weather bulletin at 2:30 p.m. It was estimated based on all available data and PAGASA Virac Radar at 60 km North Northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 110 km East Southeast of Legazpi City, Albay (13.0°N, 124.8°E). It is packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It is expected to make a landfall over Albay-Sorsogon area this afternoon then cross Albay towards Southern Luzon. Glenda was last spotted over a hundred kilometers east of Legazpi City and is moving faster westward at 24 kph. Glenda will barrel through Northern Samar, then Albay-Sorsogon, and by Wednesday morning, is expected to be in Metro Manila. Glenda expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) via Zambales by Thursday, July 17. Signal No. 3 is up over: -Catanduanes -Albay -Sorsogon -Camarines Sur -Camarines Norte -Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands -Southern Quezon -Marinduque -Northern Samar -Northern part of Samar -Northern part of Eastern Samar Winds may reach 101 kph to 185 kph in at least 18 hours. They should brace for heavy damage to agriculture, with some trees being uprooted. In Calabanga, Camarines Sur, fisherfolks still ventured out to sea despite the No Sailing Policy enforced by the Coast Guard. They said they were waiting for the final advise from LGUs to suspend fishing activities.
