TO DLC UI MANAGEMENT. Extra N15k to be paid by Lagos students as running Lagos centre is hard and costly??? I wonder what exactly makes Lagos centre hard to run,I mean we dont enjoy electricity as PHCN hardly gives light and when they do,Our greatest UI meter have been disconnected because they havent paid their bills,I doubt if the Mikano Gen at the centre have ever worked for up to an hour,thus,we attend lectures and write exams in darkness and a life threaten heat-filled class making everyone sweating like xmas goat. We dont have access to the experienced lecturers like our Ibadan counterparts,we, especially ENGLISH students have to put up with well educated masters/PHD students who lack teaching experience,we dont have access to internet connections,we dont even have access to classroom except a lecturer request on our behalf. We like our Ibadan colleagues pay for both medical and library fee,we dont have access to these facilities and we are not complaining, we dont even have access to toilets as you either join the queue of students begging for the toilet key or you go outside the school premises and help yourself. After paying N15k for tuition fees,as well as paying other fees like library&medical fee,UI DEVTP LEVY,Technology&Practical fee(Ive never done anything practical in UI tho) and being deprived the opportunity to enjoy our money,DLC still want us to pay extra. Im here wondering exactly WHAT FOR??? To make our under-graduate years more uncomfortable? To frustrate students to drop-out? To build a library and infirmary? To build new toilets or To employ more secondary school graduate as staff to boss us around? SOMEONE,PLEASE TELL ME WHAT FOR? All the money collected from us since these years cant make Ui provide basic students needs,So the extra 15k will do the trick? The money FG paid institutions after the strike,UIs share cant do anything for the students after suffering at home for 6months,You people still think the best way to thank us is to take away our N15k? I know we have no choice but to pay as you people(DLC UI) wont stop till you collect the money, I however,plead on behalf of my co -Lagos based students with the management to re-consider this policy and have in mind that the fact that we are based in Lagos doesnt automatically means we have money to throw around. The Tab policy is a welcomed one,I pray it wont be exploited by the management to the detriment of the students. Recte Sapere fons!!!!
