TO LEBANESE YOUNG PEOPLE: soon your representatives will elect a new president. You will have no say in it, really. But media and the atmosphere will suggest a real democratic race between candidates is happening, and you will be asked to take sides. Thats where you should stop and think. Your generation has seriously been victimized by the crimes, incompetence and folly of older generations, that you can (and should) justifiably blame. But now you are at a crossroads: if you support a presidential candidate that is one of several war-criminal/warlord/warprofiteer/extortionist/torturer/manipulator of their own communitys fears-candidates, YOU BECOME RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTINUING SELF-INFLICTED WOUND, TRAGEDY AND MISSED OPPORTUNITY THAT LEBANON IS TODAY. So young people of Lebanon, whether you support the Lebanese forces, the Free Patriotic Movement or the Kataeb; or Future, Amal, PSP or Hizbullah: you have a choice to make. You can choose as leaders those that have rivers of blood on their hands, that killed and tortured the parents of the people you are having a beer/soda with these days, and destroyed your country and, in fact, your future. This time you are not a victim anymore - you can say something. They are asking you to support a war criminal. Are you making such a pact with the devil ? Are you going forward or do you want more of the same ? It is, this time, up to you. Because you own the future. No more complaining that they took it from you. This time, they ask you to take a choice on your future. Time to take it from them.
