TODAYS EDITORIAL: It’s a coup d’état against Nevers THE suspension of Nevers Mumba as president of the MMD is laughable. But it is a very serious matter. What has happened to Nevers is a coup d’état. Nevers has been unconstitutionally overthrown by his colleagues. There have been many attempts to remove Nevers from the presidency of the MMD. By some luck, Nevers has survived all these attempts. But at no time did the problem disappear. And the problem was not helped by Nevers’ own political inexperience and sheer naivety. He caused the removal of others from the party positions they held and replaced them with people he thought would protect him. Nevers appointed Muhabi Lungu as his national secretary. And the other night, it was this same Lungu that was reading a statement suspending Nevers. Instead of keeping a snake at a distance, Nevers brought it into his own bedroom. And no one feels sorry for a snake charmer who gets bitten. It is said that whatever leads a mouse into the fire must be hotter than the fire itself. A serpent that is hidden increases in size and when it pounces, there is no escape. Nevers dug his own grave. - See more at: postzambia/news.php?id=4062#sthash.hluexuHy.dpuf
