TOPIC: THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD (JOHN 8V 12) TEXT: JOHN 8 V 12, JOHN 1:1-12, ROMAN 13:11-14 INTRODUCTION: Light is a means of visibility. It is also a means of overcoming darkness. Where there is no light there must be darkness and nothing will be in order (Gen 1:2-3) light has ability to overcome darkness (John 1:5).There are three type of light: 1. Man made light(fire Ps 78:14, lamp jer 25:10, candle, touch, electricity, nuclear light etc) 2. Luminaries: (moon, stars, sun Gen 1:16,Isa 13:10) 3. Spiritual light (Jesus Christ and the world of God John 1:1-12) What is Darkness: darkness is the absence of light (Gen1:12). Lucifer and the falling angels lost their glory, beauty, and light they had once had and became evil and full of darkness.(Ezek 28:11-17) may God open our eyes to see the real light of God. Every work of the devil, sin and any things that are Evil are darkness (Rev 16:10). LESSON OUTLINE A. The important of light B. Effect of darkness C. Jesus promise A. The light: Jesus said he is the light of the world in book of john chapter 8 verse12.in john 1:1-12 also shows that Jesus is the light of this world. B. Importance of the light 1. Men believe through him Jh1:17 2. He light every man then comes to this world Jh 1:19 3. The world was made by him Jh 1:10 4. Light gives glory Luk 2: 32,Isa 60: 1-2 5. Light makes man a resource centre. Isa 60: 3 6. Light lead and direct in the journey of life Exo 13: 20-22 7. It gives salvation Ps 27: 1 8. Light dominate and makes darkness to disappear Jhn 1:5 9. It put end to mourning and sorrow Isa 60 : 19-20 C. Effect of darkness 1. Who is in darkness cannot see good things around him/her Jhn 12:35 2. Darkness attract God’s judgment Rev 21:8, Rev 20: 12-15 D. Jesus Promise 1. Jesus said, he that follow me shall not walk in darkness john 8:12 he shall be free from sin & flesh Gal 5:19-21, Darkness I thess 5:4, Rom 13:12 2. He shall have the light of the life. Eph 5:8-9, Gal 5:21-24, for you to have the light you must first accept Jesus as your lord and savior Jhn 1:12. CONCLUSION: Accept Jesus today tomorrow may be too late 2Cor 6:2.Now that you have given your life to Christ, you have become light of the world Col 1:12-13, matt 5:14.
