TOPIC – post number 2 – lessons from the road – part 2 – Pack riding leaders. Have you ever seen a tight pack of hard riding motorcycle club members? Side by side and wheel to wheel? It is an awesome sight to be sure. A true work of art. The uneducated will see that and probably think – boy that’s dangerous! As a rider who has ridden in packs, I think any idiot fumbling with a cell phone in a car is dangerous – especially those new high school kids with little to no driving experience! Now THAT is a real danger! I submit to you that it takes great skill, concentration, ability and many years of experience to be able to pull off pack riding but mostly, it takes absolute trust. Motorcycle police officers ride this way too. I guess when they do it, it’s safe LOL. My point here is metaphorical so I won’t get into the politics of police riding vs motorcycle club riding. Let’s go back on point. When you have a pack of say ten bikes riding fast, hard and tight – side by side and wheel to wheel front to back, there are eight of the ten riders who are riding with absolute trust and faith that their leaders – both the LEFT and the RIGHT leader – are leading them in a safe direction and in complete unison. If there is an obstacle in the road ahead, both leaders have to quickly and accurately work together to coordinate moving the pack around it in a safe and efficient manner without putting the whole pack at risk. If either the left or the right side leader fails in his duty to properly lead, he puts those with him at total risk. ALL of them. If the two leaders are distracted by their own arguments, this too puts everyone at risk. So if there are ten riders and two are leaders, are the two leaders better than all the rest or did they get there because the eight behind them fully trust those two (FULL trust not BLIND trust)? When they get to their destination and they all get off their bikes, they are one unit, guaranteed. If along the way the right side leader deviates and heads into the ditch, he will have at least half the pack following him into that ditch because they trust his leadership and will follow him anywhere. If that leader, because of his own actions and beliefs, put his own life in danger thereby putting at least half the pack in danger, how long do you think he will lead? Our country has left and right leaders right now. They are NOT moving forward as a unit and they are NOT working towards an end goal with everyone that is behind them in mind. Additionally, they absolutely do not have the trust of those following them and rest assured, it was the leaders OWN ACTIONS that have caused this. So now they have a pack that is loose and all over the place because everyone behind them is now looking out for themselves so it is sloppy, unsafe and all over the place with a bunch of individualists looking like a bunch of idiots where some may even deviate so much that they get separated from the pack so now when the leaders arrive at THEIR destination – it is not safely done with everyone there. This also causes distention in the ranks. We need to be disciplined in protecting the pack – everyone one of us. It’s time as Americans that we ride in unison – fast, hard and tight. No more rogue leaders. After all, the leaders WILL EVENTUALLY answer to those that follow them especially if they keep running them into obstacles and into ditches! So American moving forward means that those in the pack hold the leaders accountable and the leaders of the pack do everything in their power to SERVE THOSE that have put their trust in them. DO YOU FEEL FULL TRUST IN YOUR LEADERSHIP RIGHT NOW? LEFT OR RIGHT? Or has your blind trust been betrayed? The Lesson: when you lead from the left or the right, you MUST do everything in your power to keep the trust of ALL those following you. Even if it means you have to go down to keep the rest safe. Our current leaders are too much of a coward to go down and wreck themselves to keep the rest of us safe. What they don’t realize is that we know this and aren’t behind them anymore! True statement?
