Having proven that they’re more popular than ever, we’ve looked into what these three words mean to them. #First TVXQ have become the first non-Japanese singers to hold a solo concert at the Nissan Stadium, which is located in Yokohama, Japan and can seat up to 72,000 people. As the place that once held the finals of the 2002 World Cup, the stadium boasts the largest seating capacity in Japan. If a ‘Dome performance’ signifies one’s popularity in Japan, a ‘Stadium performance’ signifies one’s status as a legend. Only top Japanese stars such as X-Japan, SMAP, L’Arc~en~Ciel, and EXILE have performed there. TVXQ have become the 13th singers to perform at the Nissan Stadium. TVXQ’s first stadium performance began with another first for the group. Their Nissan Stadium performances were the finale of their ‘Five Dome Tour’, which is a first for any Korean singer in K-pop history. TVXQ began their tour in April and performed at Saitama Super Arena, Sapporo Dome, Nagoya Dome, Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN Dome, and Tokyo Dome. They are the fourth non-Japanese singers to hold a Five Dome Tour, after Bon Jovi (2003), the Eagles (2004) and Billy Joel (2006). This has proved that TVXQ’s popularity rivals that of legendary pop singers around the world. #Biggest TVXQ’s ‘LIVE TOUR 2013 ~TIME~’ tour, which closed its curtains at the Nissan Stadium, attracted a total of 850,000 audience members. This is the biggest number of fans that TVXQ have brought in for a single tour, as well as the biggest number that any other Korean singer has attracted. It only took them a year to break the record they held with their ‘LIVE TOUR 2012 ~TONE~’ tour that attracted 550,000 audience members across 26 performances. The fact that they were able to do this in only 18 concerts proves that TVXQ’s popularity is blazing brighter than ever. From 2006 to 2013, TVXQ’s tours have brought in approximately 2 million people. Their Nissan Stadium concert was coupled with a live viewing session of the concert on the 18th, due to the wishes expressed by their fans. This was the first time that TVXQ have held a live viewing for their Japanese tours and the concert was screened in 38 movie theaters all across Japan including Hokkaido, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Okinawa. The live viewing attracted 30,000 people and when added to the 850,000 people who had attended the tour, increased the total of people who TVXQ have met during this year’s tour. #Best With this year’s tour coming to a successful end, TVXQ have proved that they are the best stars in the Hallyu Wave. Showcasing live performances that never faltered during the three-hour-long concert, they have proved that they are not only the best, but open to growth in the future.
