TRANSITION STUDENT’S PROGRAM RECEIVES $1,000 GRANT FROM SCRIPPS MEDIA, INC. Lighthouse of Collier, Inc. received a $1,000 grant from Scripps Media, Inc., for Lighthouse of Collier’s visually impaired transition students, ages 14-22. The check was presented August 8th, 2014 by Melanie Glisson, Valerie Fluegeman, and Robin Calabrese of Scripps Media. The funds were used for a weekend trip to the Naples/ Marco Island KOA camp grounds for Lighthouse of Collier transition students, ages 14-22. This first time overnight trip for the transition students was an exciting adventure while learning independent living skills and safe mobility. Directed by Heather Markgraf, activities included a guided kayak tour on Henderson Creek and nature tour, a presentation from the Boy Scouts of Collier County Troop #234 on how to build a tent and campfire. Transportation was made possible through the generous donation from American Comfort Limousines.
