I read about the GAL Program in the paper and thought that this would be something that I would be very interested in becoming involved with. I thought I would love being there for a child. During the training my mind somewhat shifted to the volunteers. I decided that these people had to be some of the most caring and dedicated people in Brevard. I was so right. I also thought listening to the recruiter, as she told people about the program and helped prospective volunteers get through the process and on a case that she had about the best job in the world. Again I was right. Circumstances gave me the opportunity to do that same job, the one who got to share the information and help the volunteer. I have met the greatest people over these years both staff and volunteers so I will say for sure that this has been the best job I ever had. My last day will be July 31st and as those of you who know me well, know that I am way to emotional for goodbyes. I’d rather have ‘see you laters’ and do just that. I hope we’ll have coffee or lunch and you can tell me all about being a GAL. Charlie Brown says, when he says goodbye he gets this big lump in his throat and it hurts. I have an email set up just for my GAL friends and family – iwillmisseveryone@gmail. I’d say I’m going to be laying on a sandy beach somewhere but that’s not me. I have lots of plans so I’m sure you’ll be seeing me again. Maybe I’ll run for governor or you might see me as the neighborhood dog walker. My options are many because of you, my folks in the office and the program. Thank you for a great run, I will miss you. Pw
