TRIP ADVISOR REVIEW!!! “Nice people; honest; apparently very good fishermen.” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014 Chartered the boat for a half-day with a group of friends. We wanted to catch tuna, and if that did not work out - something sufficient to cook for a dinner for 13 people. Tuna did not work out, as it apparently was not meant to be on that gorgeous day; yet Plan B panned out spectacularly - after Captain McGrew shifted closer to the shoreline. We caught a mid-size Wahoo (aka Ono); and followed Captains and deckhand Carltons detailed directions on how to grill one half, and sashimi/poke another half. This kept us fed for two nights. Now - Captain McGrew and Carlton are very nice folks, with a lifetimes worth of experience fishing. They are both also very personable, and obviously enjoy communicating with people. Join the Captain on the upper deck while he steers the boat, and be regaled with fascinating stories - on fishing, Hawaiian life in general, and quite a bit more. Very interesting gentleman, with formidable observational and narrative talents. Final tidbit: we were there on the eve of the much-ballyhooed Hurricane Iselle. I would say that Captain McGrew was about the only local whom we spoke to - who predicted the ultimate scenario with 100% precision - two days before it struck the Big Island. He laid out what would happen on both sides of the island, down to the number of inches of rain. He was spot on. Among the heightened tension whipped up by the media - this competent experience-based forecast was one of the more impressive things we have seen there. Overall - highly recommended.
