TUESDAY, 18TH MAR 2014 GIVE NO PLACE TO ANGER “And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.” (Num 20:10-11) Oh I remember a young man once asked – why couldn’t god forgive Moses for this mistake? Why should he have missed the Promised Land just like that? Well, he hasn’t asked the right question yet. This was not about God at all but Moses defining the path of his life by his actions. Remember, Moses was God’s chosen vessel for the purpose of leading the Israelites out of their four hundred long years of bondage into the land of promise. God took His time to prepare Moses for this task and to ensure that he fulfilled his mission. However, it is important for you to understand that in the kingdom, there is no substitute to acting on the word of God. No excuse can be accepted for acting otherwise. It is either the word or the word. No options! This explains why Moses was inexcusable here. The word was clear, God said: “Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.” (Num 20:8) Moses simply allowed himself to be overwhelmed by his emotions. He let anger in and that robbed him of the future. The entrance of anger terminated a ministry that hitherto was a glorious one. It is therefore so amusing how many of God’s children today play with anger. They get angry as though there were being remote controlled. Some even pride themselves in their hot temperedness. They will tell you to be careful around them because they are very hot tempered! The next time you are tempted to be angry, remember Moses and what anger caused him. DIGGING DEEP Eph 4:26 PERSONAL STUDIES Meditate on previous PRAYER/CONFESSION: Heavenly Father I declare that anger has no place or hold in my life in the name of Jesus.
