TUESDAY HR ARTICLE An article on family success I grew up in belvedere surrounded by many Moslem and Hindu people. What I noticed about Moslem and Hindu families is that they share their wealth and knowledge with their family members. They support one another from birth right up to death. If one family member is not business or academically gifted they do everything and support them until he\she succeeds in life. For indians their family comes first and they have strong family relationships. As I grew up I saw their families grow and accumulate so much wealth. Some indian families started to extend their homes into mansions. Some indians even went further by buying all the houses in one street for their family members. At school I was friends with one indian guy called Patel, Patel wasnt academically gifted but he learnt the family retail business and his family supported him. He is now a rich businessman with his own house. Yes you might conclude that Patel was born in a rich family full of resources however we all know that all Indians came to our country with nothing but managed to build generational wealth through hard work. Indians value family business networking and they support one another in many different countries from Dubai to Mozambique to South Africa to Zimbabwe. They share profits equally and their businesses grow. When it comes to us Zimbabwean families its a total different scenario. We always pull each other down. When one family member becomes rich they never fully support their siblings. Their wife\husband of 3 years suddenly becomes their relative of 25 years, they forget their brothers, sisters and even parents. They move to borrowdale brooke join rich churches and befriend a new rich society. Their past gets locked up in a closet, their family members become unwanted visitors. They hide their families away from their friends. They remind their family members of the small monetary things they do for them and accuse them of being lazy and failurers in life or school. With this kind of mentality how do we create generational wealth when we look down upon our family members. Our Lord Jesus said, do not give men fish but teach men how to fish. Teaching is a long process and mistakes happen thats why our Lord Jesus said we must teach people how to fish. Jesus knew that it takes a long time for people to learn how to be self sufficient. God knows every bad thing we do with our wealth and thats why his rich blessings are not passed down to the next generation. Charity begins at home before we help poor people or donate money or assets to churches, we must first uplift our siblings. We must share our wealth with our families, we must uplift our brothers and sisters up to the end of life nomatter how bad it turns out thats being a true christian. If you see that your brother\sister has completely failed in school open a business for them and if they still fail buy them a house. Also help educate your siblings children if your sibling fail to. Education creates generational wealth. If you are not rich you can do small things like buying text books taking time to teach your sibling or your siblings children. Generational wealth comes after a generation of hard work, sharing ideas and wise investments. Us Black Zimbabwean families must share resources, exchange business ideas and teach our children family values of looking after each other. Career Coach Tendai 0772 745755- whatsapp or call
