TWO WEEKS LEFT TO SUBMIT YOUR BUSINESS IDEAS Aspiring young entrepreneurs have two weeks left to submit their business plans for the Bank Windhoek BizzKids Competition, before the closing date of 9 September 2014. The BizzKids Competition was established five years ago to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among the Namibian youth. Children between the ages of 8 and 16 years old can enter the competition and win one of ten exhibition stands at the Bank Windhoek Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo where they can sell and promote their own products and services. The Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo will take place on 31 October and 1 November 2014 at the Doc Jubber Hockey Fields, in Windhoek. “Competition entries are pouring in as the deadline is only a few days away. We are excited to have also received entries from outside Windhoek. We urge parents to encourage their children to take part in the competition as it is an opportunity for them to test their business savvy”, said Roelien Zwart, Communication Practitioner at Bank Windhoek. Through the Bank Windhoek BizzKids Competition, children are therefore encouraged to take calculated business risks from a young age, think beyond traditional ways of doing business and come up with innovative business ideas to create jobs for themselves and for others and to contribute to the economic development of Namibia. Of the ten finalists who receive a stand at the Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo, the winner will receive N$5 000 and N$5 000 for his/her school, while the second and third place winners will receive N$3 000 and N$2 000 respectively. Last year, Keanu da Silva (13) and Keyat da Silva (11), trading as “Team D” from Eldorado Secondary School and M H Greeff Primary School, won first prize and walked away with prize money of N$5 000 for themselves and N$2 500 for each of their schools. The two brothers, who impressed the judges with their business acumen and sales techniques, despite their young age, sold work plans for children to do household chores to teach them to be responsible and at the same time earn pocket money for household chores done. The finalists of the Bank Windhoek BizzKids Competition will be announced on 15 September 2014. If you have not received an entry form yet and want to ask more questions or receive more information about the BizzKids Competition, then visit us at the Maerua Mall stand, in front of Mr Price, on Friday, 29 August 2014 from 13:00 to 15:00. Alternatively, you can download the entry form from the Bank Windhoek, or Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo websites, at bankwindhoek.na or kidz-fun-fair. Entry forms can also be obtained from all the Bank Windhoek branches and agencies countrywide.
