Taipei: share bikes and kilometre after kilometre of bike lanes - TopicsExpress

Taipei: share bikes and kilometre after kilometre of bike lanes and bike paths; public funds being funnelled into bettering an already laudable public transport system rather than building new roads (traffic jams here a rarity, by the way, even on a rainy Friday evening in the central business district); a cleaned-up waterside with lots of public access; govt-sponsored transformation of disused/old buildings into cultural spaces; pedestrian-friendly sidewalks/walkways; trash and recycle receptacles on the street; and so much GREEN space within the urban grid: pocket parks, small parks, big parks, wide wide tree-shaded medians with walkways. Penang, forget Singapore. Taipei should be your model.
