Tar Sands Blockade shared MI CATSs photo. These are the women charged as felons in Michigan by a jury of their peers. Their crimes were taking direct action to stop Enbridge from building a river of poison through their home, and standing in solidarity with First Nations land being turned into sacrifice zones to mine tar sands. Barbara Carter, Lisa Leggio, and Vicci Hamlin are in jail awaiting sentencing, which wont come until March 5th. Each face 2-3 years. Please show your support and write to them. 640 North Cedar Street Mason, Michigan 48854. **You must write on a blank 4x6 index card, the jail will not accept regular size letters** In the words of Vicci Hamlin, I could never look into my grandchildrens eyes or even in the mirror if I didn’t do what I felt was right in my heart. All my life my heroes have been people who have taken a stand against injustice. I am honored to follow in their footsteps and to take a stand for the Earth, for the people I love, and for future generations. That’s why I did what I did and that’s why I am willing to go to prison if I must.” We couldnt agree more. Please write today. #MICATS3
