Tatoes on giving This visit to Grenada afforded me the time to pause, to reflect and to think of life. Everything I see has meaning and purpose. I see the Creator in the ground lizard that scurries off when it sees me to the little black bird that comes in the house daily. I relish the kindness of friends and family and most of all my appreciation of life is rekindled. I look around the neighborhood and I feel the SPIRITS of those who passed. The Good Lord endowed us with the wonderful gift we call memory so we can reach back into time and be bathe by nostalgic bliss. I feel the love of Miss Margaret’s mother who always offered me a mango. I am deeply touched by the kindness of Mister Marshall who owned a shop and trusted my mother when she could not pay for her goods. I sit in the verandah and I remember Miss Usten who took the time to tell me all about bush tea and even gave me a package of bush. My eyes land on Bain Alley and I remember Miss Johnson who always had a gift for me when she returned from Petite Martinique. Love stems from the heart. Love involves sharing. When the spirit prompts you to share please do so. Soon we will leave everything we possess. Sharing was the essence of Christmas past. We did not have much but the little we had we shared. Thank God there are people who still possess hearts that reach out in love. All are not by the selfishness and materialism that are so prevalent today. Remember the words: “For God so love the world he GAVE…..” Years ago I wrote the following lines: Whatever you do Do it with love Do good and never stop. Anthony Wendell DeRiggs
