Taylor gasped with shock and horror as she looked down at her school workbook and read the word aloud, CROOOOSSSWORD. I looked at her with confusion. I thought, has she had a bad experience with a crossword puzzle before? I dont think shes ever even done one. Maybe her sisters have told her theyre hard. She said with dismay, My school book has crosswords! I said, Uh-huh? Why is that a big deal? She, now also confused, replied, Arent crosswords bad?? Then a moment of clarity struck as I realized perhaps she had misunderstood the term, cuss words to think people were saying crosswords. So I asked. And yes. Taylor thought her book had bad words in it. She thought she was getting ready to work on an entire workbook page of swear words. Ha! That would be an interesting curriculum....
