On Sunday, Oct 19th, 10 churches will walk to raise $20,000 to fight hunger locally and international. The course is 2.6 miles. We ask for a donation of $12 (or more if you can) which is the equivalent of $5 per mile. Part of the proceeds will support local food pantries (Neighborhood Food Pantry and the Hanover Park Food Pantry) and PADS, the local overnight shelter provider. The principal receipent is Church World Service, which provides relief and development nationally and internationally. CWS is an umbrella organization of 37 US denomination. Where: St Andrews Lutheran Church, West Chicago will host the event. When: Sunday, October 19th. Check-in begins 1:30 and the walk begin at 2 pm. At the end of the walk, walkers will be treated with chili and a sense of satisfaction. Why: Hunger is a persistent problem in DuPage County as well as throughout the world. How: Support us through individual donations, by joining the team as a sponsored walker, or by asking friends and family to become a sponsor by making a donation. Our overall team goal is $1,200.
