Techne Theatre Company, is a new theatre and filmed based organisation that strives to create bold, daring and spectacular work for people to view and be inspired by. Our aim is, how shakespeare would put it... To hold the mirror, up to nature. Thomas Martin and Wesley Cunningham met at school and found that they both shared a passion for not just theatre, but for the arts as a whole. They decided to form the company Techne (which comes from the Ancient Greek word for art) in order to explore and showcase the talent that Liverpool and theatre has to offer. Both with a drive for Musicals, they selected Phantom of the Opera as theyre first professional show. Musicals, while sometimes viewed a popularism that is only plays to gallery, are something that they both hold dear. Musicals are a way of breaking down the barrier that people who are not interested in the arts to come and view the majesty that Drama offers. The characters in musicals seem to transcend the boundaries of the stage and touch the souls and lives of the audience. What we wish to achieve during our time in this company is to produce works of art to entertain, challenge and explore the thoughts and perceptions of our audiences and our society.
