Tengo Hambre is the name of this quilt - I am Hungry. I took the photograph that this quilt is based on in the inhabited dump in Chenindega, Nicaragua. My then 10 year old son and I had helped prepare a fish stew for lunch for the 150 chidden living in the dump. This boy was working there with his father, searching for treasures that his bag holds with his pick ax. His sister brought him a bowl of the fish stew. This art uses my thread painting technique - Thread Stories. I have added trapunto to his bag and the bowl of stew. Many of us during this holiday season forget that there are many in the world who are hungry. I am honored to be able to bring this story to you.
