Tennesseans, we have a guy who is not a real teacher (Kevin Huffman) as Education Commissioner. We test kids for things that dont matter and that they wont remember. You have newly introduced pro-bullying laws, the earth is getting young in science class discussions, and we will have a gay-to-straight program. Its time we stop all of these social and faith engineering programs in our schools. Reading, writing, arithmetic, science, languages, history, art, music, skills you might use in work, etc. was the way it used to be done, and that should be good enough for our kids today. You put all this other stuff in and there is no room for real education. Soon good colleges will turn down applications of kids from Tennessee. There may be Christians in our state, but thank the Lord, we dont see eye to eye. We worship in different places, say different prayers, sing different hymns. We dont mind if a fellow from that wrong-headed church in town works for our public schools, but we dont want him inserting his churchs nonsense into what our kids study. Get your church out of school; it should be completely neutral ground. If you want to make things according to some hocus pocos religious law, pack your bags and go to some middle-eastern country where you can coo and cackle self-righteously about sharia law.
