Texas Triathlon outraced A&M for the first time ever!!! #1 in the region! I am so amazingly proud of our team! Texas Triathlon students are scholar athletes without athletic scholarships. We have engineers, artists, economists, political scientists, business majors, finance majors, pre-medicine majors, pre-physical therapy and exercise science. These kids are racing fast and will eventually change our world. Did I mention that we are also student run? Yeah--they get leadership experience in running the team, too--fundraising, USAT leadership, social events, team building, sport club council--all students. We arent able to hire tutors (these kid got in because of their grades, ahem), we arent able to rearrange schedules, and we do not get travel dollars or corporate sponsorships (although they are very helpful), just pool student funds and energy and good spirit---to be #1 in our conference. They did hire me three years ago as their coach with their pooled funds...and I am really humbled and grateful to be able to set up training plans and lead workouts for this team. So proud of them!
