Text: Luke 24:36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” Theme: Allow the peace of Jesus Christ to reign in our lives Thoughts: Context: When the two men travelled to Emmaus stunned at what had just transpired in Jerusalem, they did not recognise that Christ was in their midst travelling with them and only during the breaking of bread they recognised that it was Christ that was in their midst. They immediately left and went to tell the others of what they just saw. And the other Apostles, still afraid of the Jews persecuting followers of Christ were in a fearful state. Christ appeared in their midst a spoke and our text follows “Peace to you”. When we have Christ’s peace it will: • Change fear into joy • Change uncertainty to security • Insecurity will turn to confidence Sometimes we feel as Christians that Christ has vanished out of our lives and that we are left alone to fight satan and all he throws to us. We are encouraged brethren to take comfort knowing that Christ speaks these words to us as well. We ought to let peace be the ruler in our family lives. We should look for opportunities to bring peace. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God ref Matthew 5:9. On the account of Jesus in the boat with the disciples the seas were billowing and they woke up Jesus and he spoke the words “Peace be still” and the winds and the waters laid prostrate at his command. When we as children of God face situations that try to rob us of our peace, let us look at these and apply Christ’s faith and speak peace. In commemorating the international day of peace, the organist concluded the minute of silence with the hymn “Make me a channel of your peace”. The expression was concluded with the thought by our rector that in this time in which we live, we should strive to bring peace and not strive. Where there are people who lack peace then we should allow that the Holy Spirit will guide us to bring the required peace. Blessed Week Further
