Thank You ALL This is just a wee personal message to EVERY SCOT. In two days’ time we will all vote on OUR future. A question that has been waiting 307 years for an answer will finally be decided at the ballot box. What a momentous occasion! Each and every one of us is playing our role in history. Nothing will ever be the same again for these islands, whatever the outcome. After two years of campaigning the Scottish people, at this moment in time, are probably the world’s most politically aware. Everyone has been enriched by this experience, we have all learned so much about politics, how it works, the power of the media, the absolute godsend that is the internet, sharing discussing and arguing over different political opinions. Most importantly, we have rediscovered the absolute power of the people to change the system. The Scottish people are now fully awake, we are awakening the masses across these islands and they are questioning our elected representative’s actions and our current political system. We are no longer accepting at face value what they say, what we read in the newspapers, or watch on TV, we have, as a people already started to take back our nation. All of us should be extremely proud. In a vote of this magnitude there was always going to be raised emotions. There have been a few sporadic acts of violence and destruction of property. This has been condemned by both sides. With the eyes of the world upon us and with so much at stake, our collective behavior as a people has been exemplary and a credit to this country and the democratic process. This vote is not about political parties or politicians or even, dare I say it, celebrities. It is so much more important than that. This is about choosing YOUR NATION. You have to put ONE nation state ABOVE the other and you absolutely cannot be both in this vote. There is no third option on the ballot. If the UK is your NATION STATE then you will vote NO and have your version of democracy with Scotland legally incorporated as a Region within a larger state. British first, Scottish second. If Scotland is your NATION STATE then you will vote YES and you will have your version of democracy. Scottish first, British second. And for those of you who want to vote YES but are still afraid maybe the words of this man will provide you the courage to be brave “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.” (Benjamin Franklin) YES or NO, the simple fact is that we will ALL still be British after the vote. I am confident that, whatever the outcome, we will come together to make the best future that we can for ALL of us. That said, I am genetically programmed to VOTE YES. I hope that YOU are too.
