Thank You, Dr. Angelou -- The YWCA of Greater Atlanta lifts its voice to join the huge chorus of praise for Americas remarkable Maya Angelou. One of her most profound lines for me was, I was ignorant of my own ignorance. When I attended a reading of hers years ago, her voice and presence were singular, stunning, and unforgettable. No one else could have owned the stage as did she or cause an audience to repent and rejoice simultaneously the way she did with that mellifluous voice. Poet, novelist, actor, songbird, philosopher, teacher, and humanitarian, she was larger than life. She lived the mission of the YWCA in helping to eliminate racism and empower women and girls.
